Langwater Farm

A large diameter cookie with pools of chocolate poking out, salty flakes, and rippled edges A cross-section of a thin cookie with chocolate

The Davis square Farmer's market opened for the first time this season on Wednesday. With several new vendors this year there were a lot of treats to chose from, but Langwater Farms remains one of the stand-out stalls. This year, they've supplemented their stellar produce with bakery good, made fresh in thier farm kitchen.

The chocolate chip cookie is one of the most ideal cookies I've tasted. It's a large, flat, saucer-like cookie with pools of chocolate throughout. It has a relatively light ratio of chocolate-to-dough, so it's able to spread evenly and create ripples around the edges. The chocolate complements the dough's buttery flavor instead of overpowering it. The texture evenly transitions from a crispy, crunch edge to a chewy middle. This cookie is the perfect consistency for dunking in a glass of milk.
